Duralex Road Marking Primer is a clear, solvent based tack coat primer which is specially formulated for application on road surfaces before the CR road liner paint or thermoplastic material is applied. Its primary purpose is to improve adhesion between the road surface (such as asphalt or concrete) and the marking material. This ensures that the road markings stick better, last longer, and resist peeling or fading caused by traffic, weather, and environmental factors.

Drying and recoat times are temperature, humidity and film thickness dependent.
The surface must be thoroughly prepared to ensure proper adhesion and durability. This involves cleaning the area to remove all dirt, dust, grease, oil, and any loose or flaking paint. The surface should be completely dry, as moisture can interfere with drying and bonding. Any cracks or damaged spots need to be repaired and smoothed out before painting. It’s important to avoid painting over contaminants like oil stains or salts, which can reduce the paint’s effectiveness. Application should be done in dry weather, ideally when temperatures are between 10°C and 35°C, avoiding rain, fog, or high humidity. Proper surface preparation is essential for a long-lasting, high-quality road marking.
On new surfaces, especially concrete, a curing period of several days may be required. The primer should be mixed well, and applied using spray equipment, rollers, or brushes depending on the area and project scale. It is important to apply the primer evenly. Application should take place under suitable weather conditions—dry surfaces, ambient temperatures between 10°C and 40°C, and low humidity are ideal. After application, the primer must be allowed to dry completely—usually between 15 minutes to an hour—before applying the final road marking material. Proper primer application significantly enhances the durability, performance, and lifespan of road markings.
