Appropriate and good surface preparation significantly increases the top coat life and durability. Efflorescence or mold must be treated before application of paint. Treat any area affected by mold, lichens, algae or moss with bleach. Deploy skilled/experienced individuals for the application of paint. A few general instructions are given below.
New or Bare Surfaces: New concrete, mortar or cement render must be allowed to cure for 8-12 weeks depending on concrete thickness and drying condition. Surface to be painted must be dry clean and free from all contamination and efflorescent salts. Remove dirt, grease and waxy material by rubbing down using a suitable abrasive paper. Apply one coat of Duralex Interior Primer and two coats of Duralex Interior Putty. Third coat of Duralex Interior Putty can be applied for extra smoothness. Allow the surface to dry out completely, scuff with a suitable abrasive paper, and dust off. For best results, it is recommended to apply one coat of Duralex Interior Primer over Duralex Interior Putty before the application of top coat.
Previously Painted Sound Surfaces: Scrap off all the loosely adherent and defective paint from the surface with an appropriate abrasive paper or stiff brush and dust off. Spot prime with Duralex Interior Primer and fill surface imperfections with Duralex Interior Putty. Allow the surface to dry out completely. Scuff with a suitable abrasive paper and dust off.
Powdery, Cracked and Defective Surfaces: Make good minor defects. Fill large holes and cracks using sand and cement mixture. Remove dirt, grease, poorly adhering and defective material from the surface by rubbing down using a stiff brush or suitable abrasive paper. Allow the surface to dry out completely and treat the surface as described above for new or bare surfaces.
Finishing: After surface preparation apply 3-4 coats of Duralex Top Coats. Ensure 1-2 hours of drying between successive coats.
Stir thoroughly before use.

WARNING: Scrapping/sanding off previously painted surfaces may release lead dust or fumes. Lead is highly toxic; take protective measures thoroughly when rubbing off the old surfaces.
